Ongoing Faith Formation

Currently (2017), ongoing faith formation is offered alongside adults preparing to receive the sacraments. If it’s been a while since you took First Communion or Teen Confirmation classes and you’re looking to learn more deeply about our Catholic faith, please come join us! This is a fantastic opportunity to listen with fresh ears, to ask questions, and to renew your faith. Please contact Eddie ( to register.

Bible Study and Adult Catechism Classes!

Would you like to live your life with more purpose, peace, joy and love? Studying God's Word, understanding the teachings of the Catholic Church, and deepening your relationship with Jesus is the key! You can do this by attending a new series of free, one-hour classes for adults on the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church that will be taught by Deacon Ben and Fr. Dante on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month in the Church at both 10 AM and 7 PM from September 2017 through May 2018. Please come to the first class on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at either 10 AM or 7pm in the Church for information about the curriculum and reading assignments. All are welcome on this life-changing journey of discovery of God's loving plan for our earthly and eternal happiness! Please call Deacon Ben at (510) 388-1551 if you have any questions. See you soon!

Bible Study

Programs in Scripture and Catholic Church teachings are held throughout the year. The aim is to help parishioners develop Biblical literacy, feel confident when reading the sacred texts, and understand and live out our Catholic faith. Bible study and prayer are at the heart of personal and parish renewal.

All are welcome to attend our Bible study sessions which are held on Tuesdays throughout the year in the Parish Hall.  For more information, please read the notices in the Sunday bulletin or call the parish office.

Natural family planning (NFP) is fertility awareness, which is simply knowledge of a couple's fertility, by reading the body's signs of fertility and infertility. One NFP method, the Sympto-Thermal Method is over 99% effective in postponing pregnancy. A married couple's virtuous application of this knowledge either to try to achieve a pregnancy or to postpone a pregnancy is called responsible parenthood.

Practicing NFP is 100% natural -- there are no drugs, chemicals or devices involved which is one reason many today find it to be a positive alternative to contraceptive methods. NFP honors our dignity as persons by respecting the natural rhythms and functions of the body. Couples who practice NFP enjoy healthier and happier marriages with better communication, and mutual respect. This results in a divorce rate of less than 5% for them, compared to the national average of 50%. Also Natural Family Planning is the only Church approved method for spacing pregnancies.

Classes are available in English and Spanish. For more information please call Liviu or Cathy Tomutsa, 510-245-1145.
